I’m pretty sure he’s trying to rub the scent of the carpet/house back onto him and not trying to dry himself.
Just the same when some dogs like roll around in grass/mud after a bath. I think they prefer their own scent rather than soap/dog shampoo.
When I washed my dog, it immediately jumped into the pile of sand and did the same thing… ._.
